History

 

The E-MBE.net Web site was started in May 2000 by Richard J. Hernandez, CPCM. The purpose of the site, was to help small, minority- and women-owned businesses (M/WBEs) close the “digital divide” by providing them with free and information-rich tutorials on how to develop an effective presence on the Internet. The site grew to provide 60 free tutorials. <Click Here>

 

Since that time, the Web site – and company – have evolved. The focus is now on the next level, i.e., helping M/WBE firms become strategic suppliers to corporations and government agencies.

 

 

Our Founder


Mr. Richard J. Hernandez, CPCM has over 20 years of experience as a Purchasing Manager and Supplier Diversity Manager both with major corporations and with the Federal government. Mr. Hernandez’s experience includes the following:

  • Contracting Officer U.S. Air Force (Captain, USAF)
  • Manager, Corporate Supplier Diversity U.S. Postal Service
  • Senior Sourcing Specialist Amoco
  • VP Supplier Diversity PurchasePro.com
  • Sr. Business Development Manager SBC

Mr. Hernandez has also published over 60 articles in the last 18 years in a variety of magazines to include: MBE, Contract Management, Air Force Journal of Logistics, Minority Business News, etc. He is also the co-author of the following books:

  • Negotiating a Quality Contract
  • 8(a) Survival Guide
  • M/WBE Mentoring Handbook

Mr. Hernandez is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has a Masters of Logistics Management degree.
